SRM
– Schoberer Rad Messtechnik was founded in 1986 by engineer Ulrich Schoberer.Prior to this, the qualified medical engineer spent years thinking about and experimenting with ways to measure the power output of athletes on the pedals under real-world conditions during actual cycling.
It wasn't until Ulrich Schoberer developed and patented the SRM training system that it was finally possible to measure power in watts while cycling. SRM measures the only absolute aspect of training, strength, which is not affected by factors such as weather conditions (temperature, wind) seen when measuring physiological variables such as heart rate or speed. Even better, pedaling power is measured at the point where output actually occurs on a special crank SRM power meter.
For over 35 years, the SRM training system has become a reference tool for the world's best cyclists. Athletes, national teams, sports universities, coaches and serious recreational athletes such as Greg Lemond, Mario Cippolini, Erik Zabel, Andre Greipel, Peter Sagan, Mark Cavendish and Tadej Pogacar have been using SRM power meters to perform at their best. It was even used aboard the Mir space station in zero gravity conditions.
SRM PowerMeter is built by experienced technicians in Julich, Germany, Lucca, Italy and Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA.
We do this because only a PowerMeter built to very high accuracy standards can output accurate and reliable data in any environmental condition.
All SRM power meters feature strain gauge-based torque measurement capabilities. Applying strain gauges is both an art and a science. Each SRM PowerMeter uses custom-designed strain gauges that are each placed by hand and meet strict standards. This process results in rock-solid offset stability. Stable offset combined with automatic temperature compensation means accurate power measurement under any conditions.
SRM power meters continue to be considered the gold standard by many high-level athletes and coaches!
